IU Forest Quad
Location: Bloomington, Indiana
Architect: Arc Design
Description: This project was the remodel of 550 rooms for a student housing residence hall. The project consisted of a completely new heating, ventilating, and air conditioning system designed and installed over two summer breaks. The scope included a new four-pipe HVAC system with two new chillers and new cooling towers. The addition of a heat recovery system was added to the facility. This project also included the conditioned makeup air, high voltage electrical service, new chillers, towers, pumps, etc. A separate chiller plant consisting of two 500-ton chillers with the capacity for a third chiller was also constructed. This was sized to accommodate twice the anticipated load for the Forest Quad upgrade of supplying chilled water to the central campus chilled water loop.
